The erroneous final paragraph from the foreword of the 1991 Illustrated Edition is here replaced with the paragraph first included in the foreword of the Ballantine 1965 Revised Edition and the Allen & Unwin 1967 Second Edition: “The Lord of the Rings is now issued in a new form/edition”. Minor changes made to the dust-jacket as compared with the 1991 Illustrated Edition; change to HMH reflected on spine of jacket and book (but not on title page).
